Product Overview
Fireclay Brick is a neutral refractory brick manufactured from fireclay (a blend of refractory clay and calcined grog) through precise proportioning, high-pressure moulding and high-temperature sintering. With Al2O3 content typically in the 30% to 45% range, the brick is the workhorse backing and general lining material across boiler plants, cement rotary kilns, ceramic kilns and foundry operations, where the lining has to handle moderate temperature, repeated thermal cycling and a mix of mildly acidic and mildly basic working conditions rather than extreme acid attack at very high temperature.
Different from acid Silica Brick, this product is a general-purpose lining. It is widely used as the safety back-up layer behind higher-grade brick, as the working lining in cement preheater and cooler zones, and as the standard lining in boiler secondary walls, foundry ladle and tundish working linings, and ceramic kiln medium-temperature zones where cost and availability matter as much as performance.
Key Features
- Back-up and safety lining grade: the standard 30% Al2O3 grade is widely used as the back-up and safety layer behind higher-grade brick in cement and boiler plants.
- Thermal-shock tolerant: tolerates the daily start-stop of boiler plants and the preheat cycle of ladle and tundish without spalling, so the lining does not need mid-campaign patching.
- Neutral against mildly acidic and mildly basic working media: tolerates cement kiln alkali dust, boiler flue gas and ladle slag, where the working medium shifts across the campaign.
- Multi-grade Al2O3 selection: 30% / 38% / 45% Al2O3 grades let the customer pick the cost-performance point for the medium-temperature zone rather than over-spec.
- Tight back-up masonry: precision moulding keeps dimensional tolerance tight, so the back-up layer behind higher-grade brick lays up with consistent joint thickness.
- Cost-effective for general lining: lower cost per ton than high-grade acid or basic brick, and shorter lead time for both standard and custom sizes.

Application Scenarios
Fireclay Brick is widely used as the general lining and back-up layer in industrial boiler plants, cement rotary kiln preheater and cooler towers, ceramic kiln medium-temperature zone walls, heat-treatment furnace walls and door sills, foundry ladle and tundish working linings, blast furnace hot-blast pipe and hot-blast valve lining, lime kiln transition zones, and as a safety lining behind higher-grade brick where temperature or working conditions vary across the lining thickness.
Factory & Service Advantages
Huaci runs a cement and boiler plant brick line dedicated to this product, with a stock inventory of the standard 230 x 114 x 65 mm bricks in 30%, 38% and 45% Al2O3 grades, and a back-up lining cell that ships pre-assembled back-up panels for boiler and cement rotary kiln campaigns in 15-20 working days. Every batch is graded for the cement and boiler plant service window, and the grade record is filed against the pallet serial for the project QA package. Free 2-3 sample bricks are available on request.
FAQ
Q: Can this brick be in direct contact with flame?
A: It is intended as the back-up insulating layer. For direct flame or hot-gas contact, we recommend a dense working lining in front, such as high-alumina brick or dense fireclay brick.
Q: How much energy can I save by switching from dense brick?
A: For a typical 1200°C class kiln, replacing dense fireclay back-up with this product can cut furnace shell heat loss by 30% to 50%, depending on lining thickness and operating cycle.
Q: What is the difference between this product and lightweight fireclay brick?
A: Lightweight mullite brick has higher classification temperature, lower high-temperature shrinkage and stronger hot strength than lightweight fireclay brick, and is the preferred choice for medium and high-temperature kilns.
Q: Is free sampling available?
A: Yes. Free samples in standard sizes can be sent by courier for testing. Sample shipment cost can be refunded against a confirmed bulk order.
Q: Is this brick suitable as the back-up lining in a cement preheater?
A: Yes. The 30% Al2O3 grade is the standard back-up lining in cement preheater and cooler towers, behind the higher-grade working lining in the burning zone.
Q: Is the brick suitable for ladle and tundish working lining?
A: Yes. The 38% and 45% Al2O3 grades are widely used for ladle and tundish working lining where the lining sees daily preheat and thermal cycling.
Q: Can the brick be supplied as pre-assembled back-up panels?
A: Yes. The back-up lining cell ships pre-assembled back-up panels in standard boiler and cement kiln sizes in 15-20 working days, reducing on-site masonry time.
Q: How does the brick perform under boiler start-stop cycles?
A: The thermal-shock grade is formulated for daily boiler start-stop, and is the standard grade in utility and industrial boiler secondary walls.
Q: Do you supply free samples?
A: Yes. 2-3 sample bricks are provided free by courier for kiln-fit and qualification testing.
