Insulating Fire Brick

Insulating Fire Brick

- Very low thermal conductivity: keeps furnace shell temperature down and reduces heat loss through the back-up layer.
- Soft, machinable body: cuts cleanly with standard hand tools, no diamond saw required, simplifies field fitting around pipes and penetrations.
- Light bulk density: lowers the dead load on the kiln shell and supporting steelwork, helps extend structural service life.
- Good thermal shock tolerance: handles start-up and shut-down swings without cracking or spalling at the back-up layer.
- Low iron and low impurity content: suitable for clean-process equipment where metallic contamination must be avoided.

Product Overview

Insulating Fire Brickis a low-density, fine-grained insulating refractory brick engineered for use as a back-up lining or hot-face insulating layer in industrial furnaces and kilns. With a soft, machinable body and a typical operating range of 900°C to 1200°C, the brick combines low thermal conductivity with easy on-site cutting and shaping, making it a practical choice where rigid heavy bricks are difficult to install or maintain.

Compared with conventional dense fireclay bricks, this product delivers noticeably lower heat loss through the furnace shell while remaining light enough for one-person handling. It is widely used as a second-layer insulating lining behind dense working linings, as well as for patching, transitions, and door-jamb zones in moderate-temperature furnaces.

Application Scenarios

Insulating Fire Brickis mainly used as the back-up insulating layer behind dense fireclay or high-alumina working linings in industrial kilns, heat-treatment furnaces, ceramic shuttle kilns, and boiler combustion chambers. It is also widely specified for patching, transitions around burners and peepholes, and for door jambs where the dense working lining is too rigid to cut cleanly. Typical end users include ceramic tableware producers, sanitary ware plants, brick and tile factories, and small heat-treatment shops.

Factory & Service Advantages

Huaci operates dedicated soft-brick pressing lines with controlled moisture and binder content to keep the body soft yet dimensionally stable. Standard sizes ship from stock within seven working days; custom cuts and shaped pieces are produced on order. Every pallet is PE-film wrapped and strapped for export, with full QC records (refractoriness, density, CCS, thermal conductivity) attached for customs and engineering review.

FAQ

Q: Can this product be used as a hot-face working lining?

A: It is designed as an insulating back-up layer. For direct flame or molten-metal contact, we recommend pairing it with a dense fireclay or high-alumina working lining in front.

Q: What is the easiest way to cut the brick on site?

A: Use a standard masonry saw or a sharp hand trowel. The soft body allows clean cuts without cracking, which is one of the main reasons installers prefer it for tight transitions.

Q: Is a sample available before bulk order?

A: Yes. Free samples in standard sizes can be dispatched by courier for laboratory testing. Custom-shape samples can be prepared within five to seven working days.

Q: What is the typical export lead time?

A: For standard sizes, seven to ten working days after deposit. For a full 20GP or 40HQ mixed with other refractory items from the same factory, allow an extra three to five days for combined loading.

Q: Does the product comply with ASTM or EN refractory standards?

A: Production follows internal QC protocols aligned with ASTM C155 and EN 1094 series. Mill certificates and third-party inspection (SGS, BV, CCIC) can be arranged on request.
